Q&A on Rebates & Incentives
Q) Someone told me that the REC's I sold to obtain ~$700 off a competitors' ~$6000 system was linked to the the 'greeness' of my solar hot water system, so am I no longer reducing my carbon footprint?
A) By surrendering your Renewable Energy Certificates (REC's) indirectly to Industry you have sold the carbon dioxide emissions you would save by operating your solar hot water system for 10 years. This assists the government to meet the Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET) of 20% renewable energy production by 2020. So you have not reduced YOUR carbon footprint but have assisted in reducing the overall emissions within Australia. We have not spent money to approve our evacuated tube systems for rebate, instead we offer cheaper systems to everyone. So if you buy an evacuated tube solar collector or system from us today you can save money and feel good about your environmental impact.
Q) The government are offering a $1000 rebate if I replace my current electrical system. How do I get this?
A) So you have a perfectly good working electrical heating unit and want to pay >$5000 plus fitting to get $1000 back? Consider retrofitting your existing water heater to save yourself money. Our retrofit packages start from $1229.
Q) Why are the approved rebated systems so expensive compared to these prices?
A) The competition have spend a lot of money to obtain the necessary approval from the ORER and to give you the customer a range of rebate-able products. Ultimately it's arguable if this results in cheaper systems. With these evacuated tubes everyone pays the same price independent of income, how many homes you own or the system you select.
Q) Who are the ORER and how do they influence the solar hot water industry?
A) The Office of Renewable Energy Regulator (ORER) are a government department that rates and approves all small and large renewable energy projects for its environmental impact. Click here to check out their webiste.
